Blog Love: Mirror Friendly

blog-love.jpg

I have decided to begin sharing the love a little more over on Malta; Moving On, Up & Away and doing interviews with bloggers whose websites I really enjoy. First up is Andrew from Mirror Friendly who has to have just about the most inspiring blog I've ever seen. I'd seen a few of Andrews pics over on Instagram and even though I'm incredibly lazy myself, I could not help but be awed by his lifestyle. The man is a fitness and health god and now he's sharing his tips and his journey for everyone to follow!

Read on to find out more about Andrew and Mirror Friendly and make sure to check out his blog, facebook and instagram for serious inspiration!

If you have a blog and would like to be considered, please leave your link in the comments below :-) I always want to find new sites to read and fall in love with <3.

Name: Andrew FarrugiaAge: 29Location: Tarxien, Malta

A bit about you: My life’s biggest passion is fitness, followed closely by travelling. I have spent 16 years of my life in athletics as a sprinter, winning several national titles along the years and representing Malta in international competitions a number of times. At the age of 24 after recurring injuries I was regretfully forced to quit running at which point faith led me to a new sporting career in fitness which in a few years blessed me with the national title in Men’s Physique. During my years in sports I have had the fortune to combine sports with my other biggest passion i.e. travelling. In fact I’ve taken part in many overseas competitions in various countries around Europe meeting many people and learning different cultures along the years. Even though I’ve travelled extensively, Malta remains my favourite location. Regardless of my bias towards my country I still believe that the quality of life in Malta is hard to match.

A bit about your blog: Mirror Friendly is the accumulation of my life in sports and beyond: the sacrifice, the achievements, the pain, the records, the hard work, the joy, the knowledge, the competitions, the thousand training sessions at the track and in the gym, my coaches but also my mentors, my friends, my education and above all my faith which have moulded me into the person I am today. Over the past few years I came to realise that my passion for fitness and sports in general is contagious and I found myself sharing my knowledge and inspiring people to get healthier and fitter. However it was only until I reconnected with an old schoolmate of mine a year ago that Mirror Friendly was conceived.

Jean Galea, an online entrepreneur who happens to share my passion for fitness, mentored me into creating my blog which nowadays takes most of my free time after work (more about this below!) and training. Through my blog I gladly share my journey through fitness and healthy living with other fitness enthusiasts In Malta and abroad. Having been launched in December 2013 the blog is still in its childhood steps and I am looking forward to see it grow bigger over the coming months and years. ("Andrew, I know it's going to be huge!"- Rhi)

Favourite thing about Malta: I do not have a favourite thing but if I had to make a reasonable cut I would list the weather, the sea and the multiculturalism.

Favourite place to eat in Malta: Hard question! If it's during the week I usually go for a quick healthy dinner at one of the Turkish restaurants scattered around the island. On weekends I'd choose a relaxed dinner at iPlace in Marsaxlokk while for special occasions I tend to go for Buffalo Bill in St. Julian's.

Where else could you imagine living: Australia - have never been there but I always hear good things about it. Has to be one of my future itineraries!

Guilty pleasure (this can be a food, a habit, a TV show, anything!): Must be pizza, my favourite cheat meal through which I occasionally reward myself for the hard training and strict diet

Something about you we might not know: This might sound odd after having read the above… I have a Masters degree in Accounting which I obtained at the University of Malta and I am actually a full-time financial controller - a hard albeit rewarding job which takes most of my day and which I find fitting for my healthy lifestyle. It allows for a routine which helps at staying disciplined with food and saves the much needed physical energy for my evening workouts. Another thing you might not know is that I have been and will always be an avid football fan of AC Milan (not a very pleasant patch right now I’m afraid!) since I was a tiny kid.

Favourite destination to date: The Greek island of Mykonos

Thank you so much to Andrew for answering my questions and congratulations and good luck in your journey- both online and offline!
