Food Delivery in Malta 2025

Back in 2012 when I first wrote this post, it drove me insane that it was almost impossible to find a food delivery option in Malta that accepted card payments. Everything was done in cash, but nowadays this is a thing of the past. With amazing new services like Bolt Food Wolt you can now order online, pay by card, keep track of your order at all stages and have a much wider selection of choice!

Whether you're looking for McDonalds or KFC delivery in Malta, Indian takeaway to be delivered, or home delivery for sushi, Chinese food, burgers, pasta or more, you will find what you are looking for. If you’re looking for ways to order- this is the place. Or if you’re looking for the best and worst food delivery restaurants in Malta, you’re in the right place.

Food delivery apps in Malta

Finally! It's 2024 and we now have a few different food delivery apps to choose from. If you look at food prices over the last few years, this new, more convenient way to order has definitely had an impact with prices rising way over the usual rate of inflation. So, Malta is no longer one of the cheapest places in Europe, but perhaps a small price to pay for additional convenience.

  • 😍 Wolt Food

    • USE CODE: RVWBW for €3 off your first TWO orders!

  • 😍 Bolt Food

  • 🤨 Zaype- only loaded random items, no actual restaurants.

  • 🤨 Malta Menu - don’t understand it, couldn’t even search restaurants

  • 🤨 Online Eats - website doesn’t work

  • Time to Eat- seems to have closed down

  • Delivify - seems to have closed down

Best restaurant delivery from Wolt in Malta

Recently we have been using the Wolt app more than Bolt. I used to find it a bit less user friendly- you can’t put a note in with your order (like “no onions please!”) which I think is a really basic must- have that they are missing. But they have quite a few restaurants that you wont find on Bolt, so they must be doing something right. I really love:

  • Proscuiterria has the best pizza I have ever had. Consistent and delicious.

  • Pastaus manages to make great pasta for delivery, which can be tough to achieve!

You can also find some other categories for delivery like:

  • Florists

  • Wine shops

  • Grocery stores + supermarkets

    • Wenzhou Asian Supermarket

    • Greens Supermarket

    • Basic

    • Arkadia

  • Beauty, makeup + health

  • Home + interiors

Best and worst food delivery restaurants in Malta

Some of my favourite places for food delivery in Malta and ones I keep going back to include:

  1. Lulu Cafe - their eggs benedict are so nice for a weekend breakfast treat!

  2. Manouche - I never buy meals from there but I loooove their sweet treats.

  3. Prosciutteria - my favourite pizza on the island.

  4. TukTuk - only the Qormi one and it has got pretty expensive but it’s always good when you want to splurge.

  5. Emperor of India - I think for the full 15 years I’ve been here this has always been the best Indian on the island

  6. Bulubeef - realllllly great actually smashed burgers.

  7. Drunken Dumpling - lovely mains, great flavours, but very expensive.

  8. Marrobbio Sliema - another good contender for best pizza on the island.

The best takeout delivery food in Malta

Here I will list the takeout delivery food services in Malta that meet some (very reasonable!) criteria such as:

  • more sustainable packaging

  • food quality - it arrives hot and tasty

  • quick order to delivery turnaround

❤️ Lulu Cafe

✅ Mostly cardboard packaging

✅ Food is consistently good

✅ Prices are very reasonable

❌ The only downside for me is they don’t have coffees on the delivery menu. I usually just make coffee at home but sometimes you really fancy a nice cappuccino, you know?

So impressed with Lulu Cafe! It’s not often in Malta you find somewhere that is consistently good and they are now our go-to for breakfast orders. They have things like toasties, avocado toast, eggs Florentine, Norwegian and Benedict. Sweet breakfasts like a smoothie bowl, pancakes, french toast and croissants. Lots of sandwiches and baguettes and bagels. Definitely recommend!

❤️ Manouche (St Julians)

✅ Mostly cardboard packaging

✅ Food arrives hot

✅ Food arrives in great condition (i.e eggs intact, bread not soggy)

✅ Food tastes great

❌ Fried eggs are always a bit undercooked.

Guys, they are just GREAT! We ordered from them a few times now, usually getting things like the Breakfast Box (full English in a box) and the Django Bun and various pastries. The pastries are always amazing and nothing can really go wrong when delivering those. But what stands out is their fried eggs! They manage to box them up, or put them in the bun and they get to you in great shape! The breakfast is crispy where it should be crispy, runny where it should be runny. Consistently reliable. One time, I felt the eggs were significantly undercooked but, on the whole, a safe bet with great choices.

❤️ Sotto Pizzeria (Valletta)

✅ Card packaging

✅ Pizza is just as good delivered as it is when dining in

✅ Delicious taste every time!

One of my absolute favourite dine-in restaurants is now one of my absolute favourite takeout restaurants! This place does the best pizza I have ever eaten. It is authentic, it is delicious and it is just as good every single time. We had delivery a few times now, a few different pizzas and they always arrived hot and crispy. No cold, soggy pizza here! As it’s pizza, the packaging is all card, they don’t add in plastic cutlery for no reason like many places. DELICIOUS.

I strongly recommend the Carbonara, Cacio E Pepe and Margarita Con Bufala pizzas.

❤️ Prosciutteria (Gzira)

✅ Card packaging

✅ Pizza is just as good delivered as it is when dining in

✅ Delicious taste every time!

This restaurant is owned by the same family behind Sotto Pizzeria (and Zero Sei but I haven’t seen them doing deliveries yet - best pasta EVER) so you know it’s just as good. The menu selection is a little different. They have fewer pizza options than Sotto but have some cool extra things like ‘home cooking kits’ where you get all the ingredients needed to make some of their amazing pastas, although this isn’t something we tried yet. We just got a few pizzas as the opening times are a little different to Sotto.

I’d recommend checking them both out and using the one that’s nearer your home so the order arrives the fastest!
