Malta in Bloom: Sliema Independence Gardens

When I first moved to Malta I could not get over the lack of greenery and how dry and dusty the island was. The summers are so hot that most plant life gets scorched beyond all recognition however I"m not sure if I've just been living here too long (and have forgotten what nature really looks like) or if the council are making more effort with watering gardens and so on but Malta is really looking much more green and alive than I remember.

I had a bit of a bug last week and spent most of it in bed, I'm still not feeling 100% but on Sunday I decided I needed to get up and move around otherwise I'd begin to rot so Joe and I took a walk along the seafront to the flat rock beach near Exiles to meet some friends. So we pretty much just lay on our asses the whole time but the walk there and back did me some good plus I had the chance to snap some lovely photos of Malta in bloom!

These are the Independence Gardens in Sliema, they're right on the seafront and have been planted beautifully. There is a little cat village with some beds and water and food to keep the strays comfortable and looked after. They're currently building a new play area too, with disabled access I believe,  so kids can be kept busy whilst the adults sit, relax, enjoy the sea view and seriously chill out.
