Pools in Malta: The Lido St Georges Bay, St Julians
I'm always on the hunt for a clean, reasonably priced pool in Malta, especially one nearby in St Julians. Some weekends I can't be bothered with the busses (especially in summer, nightmare!) and don't want to be wasting money on taxis here and there. Recently I spent a sunny Saturday at The Lido: St Georges Bay which is part of the Corinthia Hotel complex in St Julians.
If you follow me on Instagram you'll already have had a short review on this pool. If you don't follow me, head on over! It's located just past St George's Bay, about half way up the small hill.
Entrance: The Lido, St George's Bay, Malta
The Lido in St Julians has a day membership of varying prices.
€20 basic day membership
€30 day membership + lunch.
I think the €20 basic membership is not great value to be honest. The view is nice and the pool is nice and clean, but it's small and on weekends especially it gets quite busy. However the €30 with food is much better value and I'd really recommend this place, for that rate. €15 goes towards entrance and €15 towards food. Taking everything into account, that's the best value for a lido in St Julians.
Food
We had lunch at the on site cafe/restaurant and it was a mixed bag. I went for a chicken Caesar wrap but it didn't really taste of anything. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either and I wouldn't have that again. Joe went for the hotdog which was much better! It came with baked beans and onions in the bun, as well as a portion of chips and I ended up stealing most of his, it was super tasty and really hit the spot.
We also had a fruit smoothie whilst we were there and it was sooo good. They make it up fresh in front of you, with real fruit included and it was so refreshing in the heat.
Facilities
The entrance is pretty confusing as it's like a maze, but once you get there, there is so much space and you can choose to be by the pool or by the sea, with easy access to both.
There are no shortage of sun beds at The Lido, St George's Bay in Malta, the pool is surrounded, and there are rows upon rows more down by the sea. You can't see the sea when you're actually in the pool, but wherever your sun bed is, you should be able to see the Med, which is always something beautiful to look at whilst relaxing!
There is a lounge area with comfy sofas and tables, clean and well equipped toilets, a lunch restaurants and even a Lebanese BBQ for the evenings, where you can watch the chef cook up a treat.
I took a short film of my day whilst I was there (plus my evening!) so you can get a better view of the place. Overall I'd recommend the Lido, St Georges Bay during the week when it'll be a little less busy and you'll have a bit more space in the water. I think if you go with the entrance + food option you get the best value and I love that they're open late, until 10PM as night swimming is one of my favourite things!
