GP Doctor Services Available 24 Hours a Day, 7 Days a Week!
I often find that Malta can be so far behind the rest of Europe that it almost brings me to tears, but today I have a great initiative to share with you! I don't know how long this has been in practice but I've only just become aware of it, but it's actually possible to see a GP doctor 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in Malta. This means that whenever you feel unwell or need to see a doctor, you can use this reasonably priced drop in service to see someone, no matter the time or the day.
24/7 Doctor Surgery Available in Malta
This 24/7 doctors surgery is available at St James hospitals in Sliema and in Zabbar. It's a drop in service, so no need to make an appointment, which is great as you can head straight there whenever you need, although does run the risk of long waits if there is a large queue. However, as it's open 24/7, so long as it's not desperately urgent, at least you can try and time your visit cleverly so the drop in should be quiet.
St James is a private hospital, so if you have insurance, you should check if they'd cover the drop in, but for those of you without private healthcare, you simply pay at the end of the consultation and the prices are incredibly reasonable. These prices are for the consultation alone, so be aware that if you have any kinds of extra tests, scans etc then extra charges will apply.

Doctors Open on Sunday
It's so nice to now have a place where we can visit a doctor not only in the evenings but also on weekends, including Sundays. It means we don't have to take time off work to fit in a visit, or wait until the morning if we're struck ill after office hours and, even better, we now don't have to wait until Monday if we desperately need to see someone on the weekend but don't want to overburden A&E more than they already are. It's an amazing solution from St James and one I know will come in handy for most people at some point.
