Huge list of charities to donate to in Malta

One of the biggest perks of having a good job and taking control of your spending is finding yourself with that little bit extra each month. After bills are paid, money is transferred into the pension and some extra set aside for savings or investments, I always make sure there is a little bit left over to donate to those who need it. You never know what is around the corner and our fortunes can change at any moment, so rack up those karma points and give when you can, as you never know when you might be the one on the other end.

Donating money to charity in Malta

There are plenty of worthy causes in Malta but it can be hard to find them. This country is not so great with the websites and it can take quite a bit of searching on facebook and word of mouth to find many of the worthy causes and then figure out where and how you can donate. To make it easier for you, I’ve put the work in so here is a full list of charitable causes in Malta that you can donate to when your budget allows.

These guys don’t care if you can only afford €5 every now and again, to them, every little counts so when you do find yourself with a little left over give yourself a warm fuzzy feeling by giving it to those in need.

Donate to the animals in Malta

There are two reasons I focus my donation efforts mostly (but not exclusively) on cats. Firstly, I have a cat. Kinnie would have been born on the streets to her feral Mum, who was barely more than a kitten herself. But a lovely lady saw her and brought her into her home to have her babies. So whilst Kinnie has plenty of wild blood, she was born into a warm home and at 8 weeks she came to us where she lives like a queen. So I am cat crazy.

The second reason is the sheer amount of stray cats in Malta. There are definitely dogs in need here too, but not in the same quantity. The strays are well looked after, but most of the feeders, charities and sanctuaries rely on these donations to do their great work.

CLAWS Malta

CLAWS stands for Cat Lovers, Adoption, Welfare & Support (super clever!) and you can drop them a few € to help them feed, home and take care of the countless cats who find themselves without a home.

Other ways to donate in Malta

Not everyone has spare cash at the end of each month and you definitely shouldn’t be donating if you cannot afford it. Or maybe you just want a more creative way to give something back. There are definitely other ways to help in Malta than just by donating cash.

  • Do some volunteer work. The options are endless, just find something that suits!

    • work in a charity shop

    • run errands for people in need

    • gardening

    • cleaning

    • walk dogs!

  • Donate unwanted items to local charity shops. Check what they each accept, but often most things (in good condition!) are welcome.
