A weekday in the life in Malta
Just a normal week day for me, living in Malta. I live a slow life most days, which I find perfectly fulfilling. I keep relatively active and see friends but on a normal day you’ll most likely find me doing something like the following.
Morning routine 07:00 - 12:00
I wake up naturally, without an alarm, usually between 07:00 and 08:00. I wash my face, pop on my red light therapy mask and head to the kitchen to make a coffee with collagen supplement. I will have a little scroll, usually Instagram, Reddit then Facebook Marketplace - that’s the only thing I use FB for anymore and I love checking out antique furniture and second hand mugs.
If it’s a gym day, or I’m hungry, I’ll have breakfast which might be porridge with chia seeds, nuts and honey, or something like eggs and cabbage. Once fed, I pop my aligners in the ultrasonic cleaner, shower, brush teeth and do my skincare, which always ends with SPF!
I work remotely, from home and I’m lucky enough to have a separate office space in my apartment so once I’m fed and moisturised I’ll settle down to a day of work, usually in my PJs or comfy loungewear. If I have some video calls I’ll throw on a dress, tshirt or hoodie- something less PJ looking!
Lunch 12:00 - 13:00
I always set aside lunch in my work calendar, either at 12:00 or 13:00 depending on the day. I make lunch at home, either knocking up something from scratch, or heating something I already prepped. I always have some soup, stews or curries in the freezer, or some rice and veg ready to be fried up in the fridge. If the weather is nice I’ll eat lunch in the yard, followed by a cup of tea (have to make the most of taking out the aligners!).
Since having Invisalign I drink significantly less tea, and I miss it so much!
Afternoon 13:00 - 18:00
After lunch it’s back to work. My working hours depend on the day and how many projects I have at the time, but whether I’m working or not, l break the evening up with activity and dinner.
Depending on the day, around 16:00 / 17:00 I’ll generally have the gym with my personal trainer, a home workout (I really enjoy MadFit) or I will go for a walk along the seafront. I don’t swim in the sea all that often but I love being able to see it every day, just minutes away from home.
Evening routine 18:00 - 22:00
I do a lot of meal prep so I don’t usually have to cook from scratch during the week. Around 18:00 / 19:00 I’ll make dinner, usually something already prepped that just needs heating. I eat 90% vegetarian, so likely a soup, or some roast veggies, fried brown rice or a veggie curry or stew.
Sometimes on a Friday I’ll treat myself to a delivery but I’m trying to keep this to a minimum, to save money!
Depending on what projects I have going, I may be online during the evening, but if not I’ll watch a couple of episodes of Apple TV or something on Youtube (I have given up on Netflix for the moment) and / or read a book. I have a goal to read 12 books this year and so far it’s April and I’ve already read 10! I’m so proud of myself! I read a lot as a child but, before this year, I’d hardly read a book in years so it’s been fun seeing myself make the time for it and watching significantly less TV.
I am crazy about baths, so unless it’s the height of summer, I’ll often have a hot bubble bath around 20:00 with more reading and maybe a face mask depending on the day and my mood.
Then at 22:00 I’ll double cleanse, do my evening skincare (alternating between acid exfoliation and tret), feed Kinnie and head into bed. In bed, I might read for a little longer, before popping on a nightime podcast and falling asleep.
