The weather kind of stayed nice for me this weekend- on Saturday it was warm and bright but I spent most of the day scrubbing mould and floors so I missed most of the sunshine. Then on Sunday the weather was lovely and warm (21oC!) but a little cloudy. We didn’t let that stop us though and myself and Joe popped to Ghajn Tuffieha/Riviera Bay with our good friends Andreas and Elaine.
Ghajn Tuffieha is my favourite beach so far, I love that the sand is red, it’s surrounded by greenery, there’s a nice walk/hike trail you can explore and the 200 odd steps to get down put most people off so it’s never as busy as the other sandy beaches on the island, even in the height of summer. The stairs are a bit of a killer when it’s 35-45oC but it’s totally worth it for the lovely views, calm waters and general feeling of relaxation.
This Winter so far has been a bit unpredictable. We had some weeks where it was grey and raining the whole time, then other weeks where it was glorious sunshine and felt like Summer again. As long as the grey days don’t last 300 days a year (like England) then I can just about stand them. There aren’t many countries where you can still lounge about on the beach in a T-shirt in the middle of the cold season!
We got a little tired from all that relaxing (the boys did play some pretty vigorous beach tennis to be fair to them) so decided to head for a coffee before setting off home. The cafe on the beach is really nice- reasonably priced with hot and cold drinks and hot and cold food. We made a teeny tiny furry friend whilst we were there. This is Sophie- how beautiful does she look in her little dress!
Definitely one of my favourite ways to spend a Sunday!
