Whilst Autumn is beginning to take hold of most of Europe, with cooler temperatures, fluffy socks and golden leaves on the ground, in October 2015, Malta’s weather seems to have missed it’s cue and forgotten that summer should be over. After a few grey days and one very flooded day, we’re now being treated to almost constant sunshine and temperatures up to 28oC, with no sign of it cooling down.
Temperature in Malta October 2015
Whilst the temperature has lowered somewhat from the 35oC+ we were dealing with in Malta, at a range of 26-29oC in October 2015, we can hardly say it’s getting cool. I feel like it should be colder so I’m wearing jeans and dressing in much more black, only to end up spending my days sweltering and suffering in the heat. It’s great!
These mid to high 20 temperatures are set to stay for at least another week and then it’s hard to know if it’ll begin cooling or continue with this Indian summer in Malta. Often October is the month where we suffer the worst rains, storms and the most grey days. It’s rarely cold as such, but definitely cooler than we’re seeing this year.
Evening Temperature in Malta October 2015
Usually we’d expect a bit of a chill in the evenings by October in Malta, with a cardigan, jumper, or light jacket required to remain comfortable but October 2015 is proving to be a warm one. The evening temperatures are of course lower than the day (although in summer that’s rarely the case!), but they’re sitting pretty steadily at 20-24oC, with very little breeze. It’s normally the wind that makes October in Malta a little cooler, but we’re not seeing that so much yet.
Weather in Malta October 2015
It’s only early, but from the long, hot summer we had, and the hotter than usual temperatures and forecasts for these first weeks in October, I think we can be pretty certain that October 2015 in Malta is going to be a warm one. I’d take this opportunity to get in the last sunbathing to keep that tan up, and the last chances to get your friends on a boat trip, before the winds pick up and the sea gets too rough to enjoy some sailing and swimming.
Rain in Malta October 2015.
The weather in October in Malta can be pretty unpredictable and despite the high temperatures and sunshine, I’d still recommend having your waterproof coats (a light one though, it’s still warm!), wellington boots and umbrellas at the ready as it’s fairly likely that at some point in October 2015 you’ll be caught in a rain storm in Malta. But rest assured, it’ll most likely be over before you’ve had time to really get too mad and whilst the roads may still be flooded, the sun will be back out again soon!
Now is the best time ot enjoy the beaches and the sea in Malta as it’s much quieter with most tourists gone, but there are still plenty of things to do if the weather is bad in Malta too, so never let yourself be bored!
