Are you sick of posts about the rough sea yet? Well, I work in an office with a sea view so I can’t help but constantly marvel at the activity out there. I may have to start closing the blinds as I’ve spent most of today just stood with my nose pressed up at the window going ‘ooh!’ and ‘aah!’ and ‘ohmygod here comes a biggy!’ As long as the work is getting done and my manager isn’t complaining I guess it’s all good, right?
I know I say they’re the biggest waves I’ve ever seen in pretty much every post but its because they’re getting bigger each time! The wind is just too much in Malta right now. I popped out for lunch and it was so strong, I was walking against it and couldn’t breathe, my eyes were streaming with water and I was so close to being blown right over that I had to cling to a lamp post until it calmed down for a few moments, then fought with all my might to get to the nearest cafe. Sounds funny, but was actually pretty frightening at the time.
The sea often gets rough outside my office but it usually comes crashing in and makes a big splash without the waves themselves being all that impressive. All froth and no knickers if you will. Not today. Today they’re building up from quite far out at sea and gathering height as it comes crashing in a full crest towards the pavement. These waves be cresting all over the shop! And there’s just enough messy surf to create a rainbow when the sun pops out though.
Terrifying, and beautiful.
