My best friends in Malta and I mainly met through work and now some of us have moved on to other companies it can be harder to meet up all in a group together. It’s been months since we managed so Jess had the bright idea of arranging a lunch on a day that was suitable to everyone. We decided to get out of Sliema and booked a table at Pepe Nero along the Valletta Waterfront. The restaurant was lovely, very oldy worldy inside. The light fixtures and stonework is absolutely beautiful. They have an indoor and a covered outdoor area which would be great in the Summer but as it’s a little chillier right now we sat inside.
They made up a special, not on the menu, platter for us to share as a starter, containing ham, salami, warm bread and cheese and only costing €12 which was a real bargain. It was just the right size for the 7 of us and was such a lovely nibble before the main courses. The food isn’t cheap so it’s not an every day lunch place, no sandwiches and wraps here! They serve award winning pizza, pasta dishes, a multitude of different beef and pig meats, salads and much more.
I had the spaghetti bolognese and it was lovely but the portions are enormous! I ended up taking about 2/3 of it away with me!
After the hail and general wet and darkness of yesterday, today was the polar opposite. 18 degrees and bright sunshine. I was working so had to have my laptop through lunch and didn’t have any time to wander around snapping Valletta in the sunshine but I did manage to sneak in one or two pics. Enjoy!

Oh my gosh, those ceilings!!
